Online Elections & Voting for Any Organisation.
Wolfatek runs elections and votes for organisations of every kind across South Africa — universities and student bodies, homeowners' associations and body corporates, professional bodies, companies, unions and clubs — on WEVS, the online voting system we built, own and operate. Whatever your constitution says about who votes, how votes are weighted, who may vote by proxy and how many must take part, we configure the election to it and run it from the voters' roll to the declared result.
Zero contested outcomes. Every election completed and declared.

One Voting System, Every Kind of Electorate
Each kind of organisation votes differently. WEVS is configured to your rules — your roll, your ballot, your weighting — rather than forcing your election into somebody else's template.
University & SRC Elections
SRC, house committee and residence, faculty, convocation and staff elections, including multi-campus universities voting in one window.
HOAs, Estates & Body Corporates
AGM resolutions and trustee elections with votes weighted by participation quota, proxies counted at their weight, and owners voting from anywhere.
Professional Bodies & Associations
Council, board and office-bearer elections, AGMs and constitutional amendments, with members voting from across the country and abroad.
AGMs & Shareholder Voting
Shareholder resolutions and director elections weighted by shareholding, proxies, and board or staff ballots.
Unions, Pension & Provident Funds
Office-bearer and shop steward elections, member referendums, and pension and provident fund trustee elections run to the fund's rules.
Clubs, Federations & Churches
Committee elections, AGM votes and member polls for sports clubs and federations, churches, schools' associations and community bodies.
Built in the Toughest Election There Is
University elections are the hardest test an online voting system faces: thousands of voters arriving in the same few minutes, many ballots open at once, and candidates who scrutinise every step. WEVS was built and proven there. The same system runs an estate AGM with weighted votes and proxies, a professional body's council election, or a company resolution.
Our Own System
We didn't license a voting platform — we wrote one, we run it on our own infrastructure, and the people who answer your call on voting day are the people who built it.
Built for the Rush
When thousands of voters arrive at once, nobody sees an error page: they are queued politely and brought through in turn. Load-tested at 5,000 voters completing a ten-portfolio ballot in 91 seconds.
Weighted Votes & Proxies
One member one vote, or votes weighted by participation quota, shareholding or any rule your constitution sets — with proxies captured and counted at the right weight.
Audit-Ready, South African Data
An append-only audit log records the election as it happens. The system and its data are hosted in South Africa on infrastructure we run, and destroyed with a certificate after the result.
How a Wolfatek Election Runs
We take custody of the operational work. Your returning officer, electoral commission or board keeps every decision that is theirs to make.
Voters' Roll
We prepare the roll from your register — students, members, owners or shareholders — with each voter's constituency and, where your rules weight votes, their weight.
Nominations & Notices
Candidates nominate and gather seconders online, resolutions are published with their supporting documents, and every voter receives their own single-use voting code.
Online Voting, Anywhere
Voters vote in the browser on any phone, tablet or laptop, wherever they are in the world, with nothing to install. Proxies vote with the weight they carry.
A Live Help Desk
Our team supports voters throughout polling, and voters on the roll can get their voting link on WhatsApp in seconds.
Counting & Results
Every ballot is saved the moment it is cast and counted automatically, with weights applied. Results go to your returning officer or chairperson for declaration.
Audit & Data Destruction
We prepare everything an independent auditor needs. After the result, election data is destroyed and you receive a Data Destruction Certificate.
Online Elections & Voting: Frequently Asked Questions
What kinds of elections and votes can Wolfatek run?
Any election or vote with a defined electorate: university SRC and residence elections, homeowners' association and body corporate AGMs, professional body council elections, company AGMs and shareholder resolutions, trade union and pension fund trustee elections, and club, federation and church votes.
Can votes be weighted?
Yes. WEVS supports one member one vote and weighted voting, for example by participation quota in a body corporate or by shareholding in a company.
Can members vote by proxy?
Yes. Proxies are captured before the vote and a proxy votes with the weight of the member they represent.
Can people vote online from their phones?
Yes. Voters vote in the browser on any phone, tablet or laptop with nothing to install, using a single-use code, from anywhere in the world. A full voting session uses less than 2.5 MB of data per voter on average.
What happens when thousands of people vote at the same time?
WEVS queues voters during a surge instead of showing errors. It has been load-tested at 5,000 voters completing a ten-portfolio ballot in 91 seconds with no server errors.
Where is the election data stored?
The election system and its database are hosted in South Africa on infrastructure Wolfatek runs, and election data is destroyed with a certificate after the result.
What do students think of voting on WEVS?
Across our two most recent university elections, more than 14 000 students rated the voting experience, averaging 88%. At one, 70% of voters gave it five stars; at another, every campus reached quorum on the first day.
Can candidate agents and observers follow the results live?
Yes. On request, WEVS sends automated live candidate results to registered candidate agents and observers on WhatsApp throughout polling, so everyone sees the same numbers as the electoral office.
Do you run the election, or do we?
Either. Wolfatek can run the whole election as a managed service, or your organisation can license WEVS and run its own elections on it.
Planning an Election or a Vote?
Tell us who votes, roughly how many are on the roll and when voting is, and we'll come back with a proposal. Crystal answers on WhatsApp any time.
