University & SRC Elections, Run End to End.
Wolfatek runs student and institutional elections for South African universities — SRC, house committee and residence, faculty, convocation and staff elections — from the voters’ roll to the declared result. Every vote is cast on WEVS, the online voting system we built, own and operate ourselves. One team carries the whole election, so your electoral office never has to choose between a software vendor and an election manager again.
Zero contested outcomes. Every election completed and declared.

Every Election a University Holds, on One System
Universities don’t hold one election a year; they hold a calendar of them. We run them all on the same online voting system, configured to each constitution’s own rules, rolls and portfolios.
Student Representative Council
Central and campus SRC elections, including multi-campus universities voting in one window: online nominations and secondments, candidate campaigning, voting on any phone or laptop, and results handed to your electoral office.
House Committee & Residence Elections
Every residence its own roll, its own portfolios and its own ballot — run side by side in a single voting window, so a student only ever sees the election they are entitled to vote in.
Faculty, Senate & Council Elections
Faculty councils, student parliament and governance seats with constituency-specific rolls, quotas and portfolio rules, configured to the governing document rather than forced into a template.
Convocation, Alumni & Staff Ballots
Graduate convocations and staff representatives, with voters taking part wherever they are in the world.
How a Wolfatek Election Runs
We take custody of the operational work so your leadership is not carrying the logistics. Your electoral commission keeps every decision that is theirs to make.
Voters’ Roll Preparation
We clean and check the roll your registry supplies, and students can confirm they are on it before polling, so roll queries are settled before voting opens — not on voting day.
Online Nominations
Candidates nominate, gather seconders and upload documents online. Your commission receives complete eligibility packs to decide on, instead of boxes of paper.
Online Voting on Any Phone
Students vote in the browser on any phone, tablet or laptop, with nothing to install and a single-use code for each voter. Voting-booth tablets can be placed on campus for anyone without a device. A full voting session uses less than 2.5 MB of data per voter on average.
A Live Voter Help Desk
Our team supports voters throughout polling, and students on the roll can get their voting link on WhatsApp in seconds — a switch your electoral office can turn off if it prefers.
Counting & Sealed Handover
Every ballot is saved the moment it is cast and counted automatically. Results are handed to your electoral office for declaration, and on request registered candidate agents and observers receive automated live candidate results on WhatsApp throughout polling.
Independent Audit & Destruction
We prepare everything an independent audit firm needs, as standard. Within 30 days of the final result, election data is destroyed and you receive a Data Destruction Certificate.
Why Our Elections Hold Up
We didn’t license a voting platform — we wrote one. We run it on our own infrastructure, and the people who answer your call on voting day are the people who built it. When something has to change mid-election, nobody is waiting on a vendor in another country.
A Secret Ballot by Design
No record links a ballot to a voter, and auditors can verify it. Each voter can cast exactly one ballot, and it is saved in a single, complete step.
Built for the Rush
When thousands of voters arrive at once, nobody sees an error page: they are queued politely and brought through in turn. Load-tested at 5,000 voters completing a ten-portfolio ballot in 91 seconds.
Audit-Ready While Polls Are Open
An append-only audit log records the election as it happens, with regular exports for the audit team during voting — not a reconstruction afterwards.
South African Data, Destroyed on Time
The election system and its database are hosted in South Africa on infrastructure we run, and destroyed with a certificate within 30 days of the result.
University Elections: Frequently Asked Questions
Do you run SRC elections for South African universities?
Yes. Wolfatek runs SRC elections end to end — roll preparation, online nominations, voting, a live help desk and results — including multi-campus SRC elections held in one voting window.
Can students vote online on their phones?
Yes. Students vote in their phone's browser with nothing to install, using a single-use code. On-campus voting tablets can be added for students without a device. A full voting session uses less than 2.5 MB of data per voter on average.
How is the secrecy of the ballot protected?
WEVS is designed so that no record links a ballot to a voter, and an independent auditor can verify this. Each voter can cast only one ballot.
What happens when thousands of students vote at the same time?
WEVS queues voters during a surge instead of showing errors. It has been load-tested at 5,000 voters completing a ten-portfolio ballot in 91 seconds with no server errors.
Can you run house committee elections for many residences at once?
Yes. Each residence has its own roll, portfolios and ballot, and all of them can run side by side in the same voting window.
Where is election data stored, and what happens to it afterwards?
The election system and its database are hosted in South Africa on infrastructure Wolfatek runs. Election data is destroyed within 30 days of the final result, and a Data Destruction Certificate is issued.
What do students think of voting on WEVS?
Across our two most recent university elections, more than 14 000 students rated the voting experience, averaging 88%. At one, 70% of voters gave it five stars; at another, every campus reached quorum on the first day.
Can candidate agents and observers follow the results live?
Yes. On request, WEVS sends automated live candidate results to registered candidate agents and observers on WhatsApp throughout polling, so everyone sees the same numbers as the electoral office.
Can we license WEVS instead of using the managed service?
Yes. Institutions can appoint Wolfatek to run the whole election, or license WEVS to run their own elections on it.
